With the help of an eccentric psychiatrist, and a local, accidental hero, our heroine has to grow up, but falls in love and eventually takes hold of her future - despite not being able to see what's right in front of her.。所谓的“虫”，是一种超越了科学解释范畴而存在的邪恶生物。它们专门附身在心怀梦想的少男少女身上，令他们拥有能够使用超能力的特异功能，政府称他们为“附虫者”。当附虫者们为了完成自己的梦想而使用超能力时，便会在社会中制造出许多怪异的景象，引起市民的恐慌。 为了应对附虫者的存在，政府设立了名为“特别保护环境事务局”的机构，该机构负责监视附虫者，以及消灭虫，而身上的虫被消灭后，附虫者则会变为“缺陷者”。讽刺的是，在机构中供职的人们，他们本身亦是附虫者。在不断地和虫战斗的过程中，他们也在一步一步地接近他们的梦想。。
