亮（吉冈秀隆饰）与家里的父亲发生了冲突，离家旅行到一个小镇，遇到了一家影院的经理活男（西田敏行饰），并留了下来工作，在影院工作的还有放映师常先生（田中邦卫饰），并认识了开咖啡店的八重子（田中裕子饰）。活男一直喜欢八重子，可惜后来终未能如愿，八重子离开了小镇。。晨曦微茫，野外的湿地池塘，静谧祥和。不远处飞来一只长腿鹳鸟，它随着音乐翩翩起舞，细长的腿左右开弓，抓起一条又一条鱼儿，塞入嘴中，转眼就变成了鱼骨。当鹳鸟大快朵颐的时候，一只红色锦鲤跃出水面。那鱼儿是如此华丽，如此迷人，鹳鸟瞬间就被它抓住了心弦。在此之后，鹳鸟疯了一般地四下寻找，功夫不负有心人，它终于看到那条锦鲤，于是紧紧跟在鱼儿的身后。终于，锦鲤来到了大鸟的身边。可是，饕餮之徒却一口将鱼儿吞进了肚里。 令它意想不到的事情发生了……。For much of the last half century, Cyprus-born theater operator Nick Nicolaou has lived and breathed the world of New York City cinema.
