Along the way, they encounter disease-carrying Mara bats, a talking space roach, and Adria...。生きている金属ロボ・ガンガーと、地球と宇宙双方の血を引く少年カンタローの活躍を描くＳＦ冒険アニメ。全宇宙に侵略の手を伸ばすブラスター星人が地球に接近する。だが地球には、かつてブラスター星人に滅ぼされた星カンサロスから持ち込まれた、生きている金属から生まれた鋼の巨人・ガンガーがいた。地球人の父とカンサロス星人の母を持つ少年カンタローはガンガーに合体。その超パワーで地球の平和を守る。『マジンガーＺ』に３ヵ月先がけて登場した、1970年代巨大ロボットアニメブームの始祖的作品。当時にしてはバラエティ感の豊富な番組内容で、人気を博した。。
